Neuromuscular Massage

The AMTA's definitions of

Massage- is manual soft tissue manipulation, and includes holding, causing movement, and/or applying pressure to the body.

Massage Therapy- is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well being of the client.

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) - A type of soft tissue therapy which focuses on the role of neurological reflex mechanism in the development and perpetuation of pain and dysfunction. An important component of NMT is assessment and treatment of myofascial trigger points.

Now let's go laymen's terms! Have you ever received a massage and the therapist's grabs a hold of a muscle and you feel the pain radiating to some other place on your body? This is a trigger point. This is an indication to apply ischemic pressure to this place and work all the way to where the pain ends to clear the whole line and irradicate both the start point and the end point of that pain. By releasing the muscles, we release overall body tension, discomfort and soreness.

This is not to say that you will feel totally relaxed without effects from the work-my clients will attest to this! If you have had a really good NMT session and the therapist focuses on the issues at hand and treats them thoroughly, you will feel sore the following day to two days thereafter.
This is where my detox bath salts come into play. It is very important to sweat out those toxins from your body so that they can leave you for good.

Most people will just say to drink plenty of water after a massage. While I agree with this statement, it is only promoting those toxins to leave through your urine. It will take a lot of water to get that all out!
What I want my clients to do after a session are to take a detox bath and drink plenty of water so that we can release those toxins through the pores of the skin and the urine.

*Follow the instructions for detoxing on the page with the bath salts*

I consider myself a muscle reader. Each person's body gives me a lot of information by the way that you react to deep tissue. By where you have soreness in general. What you do in your daily life will lend to what parts of your body may be overworked and out of balance. When I place my hands on the body and watch the muscle reactions to touch, and your facial reactions I can know what to treat and how to treat it. I am thorough in my practice and take my body work very seriously. I am blessed to be someone who loves how I spend my days and I look forward to you being a part of that day!
